More Thunderstorms Expected Today in Bozeman Area; Weekend Sunny

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until Thursday night for the Bozeman area. We could get a repeat of the storms we experienced on Wednesday evening that rolled through the area with winds, heavy rain, and very intense lightning.

The National Weather Service says the Red Flag Warning will remain until 10 p.m. Thursday night. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are
either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The weather forecast for Thursday in the Bozeman area looks almost identical to what the NWS called for yesterday. Scattered thunderstorms with gusty winds at times, rain and lightning. According to the National Weather Service should be back to mostly sunny skies on Friday, and the weekend right now is calling for sunshine and highs near 90.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 114, 116, 117 and 118.

* TIMING...Through 10 PM MDT this evening.

* LIGHTNING...A mix of wet and dry thunderstorms.

* IMPACTS...Fires can ignite quickly and easily and spread
rapidly under these conditions with the increase in lightning
preceded by very warm and dry conditions.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty and erratic outflow winds up to 50 mph
possible.
