Some Say This “Magical” Montana Plant Can Cure Whatever Ails You.
For many Montanans, the idea of using natural remedies has become a way of life.
All across the state, several retail stores specialize in natural foods, supplements, and vitamins that can not only help you with whatever issue you might be having but can boost your energy and overall health.
Many of these have been around for thousands of years, and as folks look to get away from pills and prescriptions, they've been gaining in popularity not only across the country but in Montana as well.
So which Montana plant are we talking about? (For those of you who said Hippie Lettuce, no.) The plant we're talking about is Elderberry. According to WebMD, the Elderberry can be used for many different treatments including the following:
- Inflammation
- Stress
- Heart
- Cold and Flu
- Constipation
- Joint and Muscle Pain
- Kidneys
- Headaches
- Fever
According to Montana Homesteader, the Elderberry plant is quite abundant here in Big Sky Country. There are a couple of different variations as far as color goes, there's black or blue. The best time to harvest this impressive little plant here in Montana is during the fall.
You should also know that it is recommended that Elderberries need to be cooked before you consume them.
For those not interested in picking their own, Elderberry comes in a few different forms, with one of the most popular being Elderberry Syrup which is readily available. And while many people swear by the Elderberry, health professionals will remind you that in the case of something like the flu, you should still get your annual flu shot.
