This Montana Town Makes List For Most Underrated
One of my favorite things to do is explore new areas and towns in Montana. You never know what hidden gem you'll come across in the most unassuming and less visited places here in Big Sky Country.
From hole in the wall diners, quirky gift shops, there is no telling what you'll discover when exploring off the beaten path.

Which town in Montana made the list of most underrated towns in America?
According to The Travel, Red Lodge, Montana, earned a spot as one of the most underrated small towns in the U.S. It shares the list with charming places like McCall, Idaho; Burke, Vermont; and Dahlonega, Georgia.
Having lived near Dahlonega and visited McCall, I can vouch for their appeal. While I've yet to visit Red Lodge, this recognition has bumped it to the top of my must-see list in Montana.
Beartooth Highway
Red Lodge is seated in the heart of the Beartooth Mountains in south-central Montana. Its prime location, just 98 miles north of Yellowstone's northeast entrance, makes it a gateway to adventure. The route to Yellowstone travels along the iconic Beartooth Highway, often called "the most beautiful roadway in America."
Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary
Just a few blocks from downtown and open year-round, you can visit the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, you can see bears, big cats, raptors, bison, and other rescued Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem animals up close and personally.
Dining in Red Lodge, Montana...

There's no shortage of activities in Red Lodge, from exploring museums and art galleries to skiing, hiking, and even stargazing at an observatory. If you're looking for your next getaway, this charming town might be the perfect spot. After learning more about it, Red Lodge is officially at the top of my must-visit list—how about yours?
