It should be noted however, that if you are going to be hitting the highway this summer, there are certain times that might be a bit more dangerous than others, one of those dates is the 4th of July.
When is traveling in Montana the most dangerous?
According to the law firm of Steele, Adams, and Hosman out of Salt Lake City, Montana is one of the most dangerous places to drive during the July holidays. The law firm decided to take a look at road fatalities from 2019 to 2024 for the days just before, during, and after the holiday and what they found was alarming.
Out of all 50 states, Montana leads the nation as the deadliest state for 4th of July travel.
Now, it should be noted that this is based off of percentages. While there are other states that have more fatalities, they also have a larger population. When it comes to the highest per-capita danger, Montana is ranked first.
How can a Montana driver be safe on the roads?
Of course, there are certain things that can be done to reduce the risk of vehicle fatalities. Drive the speed limit, wear a seatbelt, and don't drink while under the influence.

Keep in mind that the holiday is a busy time on Montana roads, as AAA stated that over 72 million people traveled at least 50 miles for Independence Day last year.
