As we roll into summer, we begin to see all of the tourists that are coming to enjoy all that Montana has to offer.

Of course, you know all about Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. You're also familiar with Flathead Lake, plus all the other must-see places here in Big Sky Country. However, with the cost of living increasing, is Montana at risk to see fewer tourists?

While that would please a number of locals, it appears that isn't the case...yet.

According to Cheapism, there are a number of places that have simply become to expensive to visit and a few of those are places within the rocky mountain range. Places like Aspen and Jackson Hole have been deemed places Americans have stopped traveling to because prices are through the roof.

Where else are Americans avoiding?

The list is interesting because there are a couple of spots that I question on the list. First up is Hawaii. I know that Hawaii isn't cheap, but I feel like people are still going there. The other, and I really question this one, is Las Vegas. Sin City made the list of places that Americans aren't visiting because of the cost.

I decided to do a little research and it does appear that less Americans are visiting, in fact, almost 8 percent.

Another spot on the list isn't in America, but it's only a few hours from Montana and that's Banff. My wife and I try to head up to Banff every year or so, and it's her favorite place. I will tell you that lodging is very expensive, but if you're willing to drive an hour or so, staying in Calgary will save you big time. Oh, and if you do stay in Calgary, try the Ginger Beef, you'll thank me later.
