Montana Kitchen’s Should Check For This Popular Recalled Item
You don't have to be a baker to have this popular item in your cupboard. Commonly used not only during holidays, but also a popular item in smoothies, homemade lattes, and diet enhancers.
A recall on cinnamon has been issued, and the manufacturer has said it was distributed throughout the Midwest and beyond.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is warning people to throw away a certain type of cinnamon. Apparently this specific brand is sold at discount stores and could contain levels of lead that may be unsafe.

Supreme Tradition Ground Cinnamon, has been distributed at Family Dollar and Dollar Tree stores in Montana.
If you are like me and put your spices into cute little jars or a spice rack, this is probably a good time to just toss the cinnamon and grab a new one. Supreme Tradition is an extremely popular brand that is priced low which is why it's a common brand to purchase.

From the DPHHS:
...exposure to lead in the diet could contribute to adverse health effects, particularly for the portion of the population that may already have exposure to lead from other sources. Most people have no obvious immediate symptoms of lead exposure. -DPHHS
The CDC uses a marker of 3.5 micrograms per deciliter to identify children with blood lead levels higher than most. If you think there is a chance you or your children could be exposed, head to your doctor asap.
