How Engaged Are Montanans When It Comes To Politics?
It's the political season in Montana which means ads on TV, Radio, and Social Media.
Speaking of social media, for the next several months folks will be sharing their opinions, so much so that, many of us will either take a break from social platforms or will choose to unfollow those folks.
It can be a bit much, especially when it turns bitter, which it often does. The truth is, that most folks believe that they're right and that their views are what is best for Montana and the country, even if their approach leaves little to be desired.
When it comes to politics, just how engaged are Montanans? Where do we rank compared to the other 49 states?
According to one source, Montana is one of the most politically engaged states in America. The website SmartAsset ranked all 50 states in order of each state's political engagement and Montana ranked near the top. Montana ranked 11th out of 50 based on the following two factors:
- Donations
- Voter Turnout
Over the next several months, we will hear lots of chatter about the direction of Montana and the United States and what we need to do to get us on the "right track". It's not my place to tell anyone how to vote, but I will share with you something a politician told me once.
He said that people will go out of their way to vote for someone they will likely never meet, but will stay at home when it comes to voting for local folks that will have an impact on their everyday lives.
When you think about it, it's kind of true and kind of sad.
