Montana Showdown: Red vs Blue And The Potential Mess.
As Montanans, we are seeing history unfold right before our eyes and if we aren't careful, it seems that it could turn ugly and many Montanans might not like the results.
It's an election year and here in Montana, we'll be voting for who will represent us in the United States Senate, as well as who we want to be our next President of the United States.
While Montana is considered a "Red State" we tend to vote on both sides of the fence. We've had our share of both Democrats and Republicans in the governor's office and currently, our two U.S. Senators represent both parties. In the last two presidential elections, the people of Montana have chosen Donald Trump as their candidate of choice.
While we will await to see if we go three for three, we know now that the current President, Joe Biden will not be running after it was announced that he is dropping out of the race. It seems, for now at least that the current Vice-President of the United States will take his place and we will see a Harris vs. Trump showdown come November.
So why is that a big deal? Well, it's a big deal for a couple of reasons. First, we've never had a female President and while that won't factor into a lot of Montanan's decisions, it will factor into some. Second, both of these candidates are polarizing to the other side.
We all know how the Democrats feel about Trump, and now we are starting to see how the Republicans feel about Harris.
If you've spent any time on social media, the memes, videos, and posts are plentiful which questions her ethics, morals, and overall character. Translation: the Republicans are doing the same thing to Harris that the Democrats have done to Trump for the last several years.
Both have allegedly made questionable choices in their personal lives, both have made statements that have raised eyebrows, and both are considered to be less than desirable to run the country.
So who will Montanans vote for? Well, that all comes down to who's side their own. The Republicans will vote for the Republicans, the Democrats will vote for the Democrats and a whole lot of others will wonder why these two are our only choices.
One word of caution, however.
While the next few months are likely to become very nasty across the country and here in Montana, the attacks will not be viewed the same. Fair or not, gender will be a factor and those who want to criticize Harris would do well to remember that and not make it personal.
Of course, the big question is whether it affects the Senate race. Does a Harris vs Trump race help or hurt Jon Tester and Tim Sheehy more so than a Biden vs Trump race? Does this give the edge to one candidate over the other? Buckle up, because we're about to find out.
