Montana’s Most Famous Burger Is Available This Weekend Only
It's that time of year again. It's Rodeo season in Montana and one of the oldest rodeos in the state wraps up this weekend, but it's not just the rodeo that makes this weekend special, it's also the fact that there's a certain burger available at the rodeo that people drive miles for.
This weekend is the Wild Horse Stampede in Wolf Point. While the event kicked off earlier this week, there will be rodeo action tonight and tomorrow, but for many that's not the only reason to head to Wolf Point.
The Wild Horse Stampede is also home to what could be the most famous burger in Montana.
The Catholic Burger has been a staple since 1947 and people come from all over just to buy one, or two, or three. Why is it called the Catholic Burger?
It all started with the folks at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They needed to come up with a fundraiser, so they decided to make burgers from the Stampede, and the rest, as they say, is history.
What makes the Catholic Burger so special?
Like a lot of things that have been around for a long time, there is a bit of nostalgia that comes with it. Generations of families have either worked at the stand or bought the burgers over the years. However, make no mistake, these are delicious burgers and they are known for the fact that the onions are soaked in pickle juice.
Plus, they use local beef.
For those who are curious, the Church will have its stand at the Stampede on Main Street and will be selling Catholic Burgers today(Friday) from 11 am until 2 am, tomorrow (Saturday) 11 am until 2 am, and Sunday from 11 am until 3 pm.
If that's not a reason for a road trip, I'm not sure what is.
