Montana Flooding: What You Need To Know About Many Glacier

Most folks are familiar with the saying "Don't like the weather here in Montana? Stick around, it will change".

It's true Mother Nature has been a little of her game this last year. While some parts of Montana didn't receive a lot of snow, now here we are in summer and we're getting all kinds of rain. In fact, some areas of Montana are dealing with flooding, including parts of Glacier National Park.

For decades, Montana has been a summer destination as folks travel here to see Yellowstone, Glacier, and all of the other beautiful things that make Montana so unique, however, one of the most visited sites has been evacuated due to flooding.

Which areas of Glacier National Park have been evacuated?

The Many Glacier Valley has been dealing with excessive rains and because of that residents at both the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and the Many Glacier Hotel have been evacuated as well as the Many Glacier Campgrounds.

According to reports, the water at Swiftcurrent Creek rose 3 feet throughout the day, which put the area on high alert. Not only were folks evacuated out of the Motor Inn and Hotel, but a portion of Going To The Sun Road has been closed due to flooding and debris.

It should be noted that the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch and warn that the area is in danger of rockslides and runoff. This Flood Watch does include the areas of Lake McDonald and the Flathead Lake Area.
