In Montana, Gallatin County is the third most expensive place to live in behind Billings and Missoula.

The minimum wage in Montana is $8.50, and in Gallatin County a person must earn $17.27/hr in order to afford to rent an average 2-bedroom house. That is over double the state minimum wage. If a person lives in Gallatin County and earns minimum wage, that person would most-likely need to work two full-time jobs at 40 hours a week.

The required wage just covers the rent and utilities.
