Gallatin County Health Department Reports 2 COVID-19 Deaths

The Gallatin City-County Health Department announced on Tuesday the deaths of two county residents with COVID-19. Both passed away in mid-November, but the Health Department didn't receive the official death certificates until this week.

The two people were a woman in her 70s who died in a hospital the week of November 15th and the other a man in his 80s who passed in the hospital the week of November 22nd. These COVID-19 related deaths now bring our total to 24 in Gallatin County since the coronavirus pandemic began in March.

“We send our condolences to the family and friends of these folks,” said Matt Kelley, Gallatin City-County Health Department Health Officer. “With two more neighbors lost to COVID-19, we once again ask for the public’s help. We will get through this pandemic, but only with the assistance of everyone in our community. This holiday season, make sure to follow public health guidelines, and extend kindness and compassion to others.”

Out of respect for the families, no further details will be released.

While Gallatin County has registered 24 COVID-related deaths, no one under the age of 50 has died with the virus. 10 of our deaths locally have been individuals over 90 years of age and seven deaths have been people in their 80s.
