Based on the data, Montana isn't a popular place to visit the data suggests that Montana ranks 3rd in the list of the least visited states. While that may come as a surprise to many, especially those who think "Montana is full" according to the states, only 19 percent of the population has visited Montana.

So which states rank ahead of The Treasure State?

It won't come as a big surprise that the number 2 least visited state are our neighbors over in North Dakota. Only 15 percent of the population has visited the fine folks to our east and to be honest, there is a portion of Americans that think North Dakota is part of Canada.

The number one least visited state also shouldn't come as a big surprise and it just happens to be the biggest state of the 50. With only 13 percent of the population ever setting foot in Alaska, the Last Frontier ranks at the top.

I'm fine with this. I mean, one of the reasons I live in Montana is so I don't have to deal with tons of people. The fact that there are more cows than people here is fantastic if you ask me. And while it may seem that everyone and their brother visits, especially during the summer months, keep in mind that it could be way worse...and remember, that once the snow flies, most of them leave anyway.
