Alas, my friends, I am not talking about tourists. We all know how you feel about the invasion of tourists during our 3 months of no snow here in Montana. The season I am talking about is also one of the deadliest, again, not tourists.

From May through September, these little blood suckers are at their prime in Montana. Luckily, because we don't typically have a lot of super hot months, our season is short compared to some U.S. states.

Get ready to grab a can of OFF, some citronella candles, or whatever other tactic you use to keep these little flying pests away while you enjoy your summer.

Mosquitos are the deadliest insetcts, and we have entered their favorite time of year.

The WHO (World Health Organization) claims that mosquitos kill over 700,000 people per year, making them the most deadly bug on earth. It's crazy to think that those tiny little flying pests are the cause of so many deaths per year.

There are ways you can prepare for when the little pests are most active. According to Terminix:

  • Don't have standing water. So for example, the cute bird baths in the backyard should be emptied every night. You can refill it in the morning when the temps get a bit warmer, but having that sitting water is a dream come true for breeding mosquitos.

  • Don't let leaves or debris fill up your gutters. Basically, any spot that is moist and has any water sitting is good enough for mosquitos to breed in.

  • Have a pool or pond? Consider installing something that will keep water constantly moving so it is not sitting dormant. If the water is moving, breeding won't come as easy for the tiny killers.

  • Of course, if you can, avoid being outside during their peak hours, but that isn't really ideal when we only get a few months of warm weather.

Top 5 Safest Cities In Montana, 2023

Like every state, there are always going to be a few towns that make us think twice about moving there or deciding where to raise our kiddos. But like I always say, "negative yells and positive whispers". The same goes for crime and violence; we hear about all the drug busts, assaults, break-ins, etc. It's not very often we hear about all the great things right?
Well, the list came out from Safewise, and we now know where the Five Safest Cities In Montana are.

9 Ways To Avoid Hitting A Deer In Montana

State Farm Insurance came out with a list of states with the worst odds of hitting an animal, and Montana came in 2nd. There is a 1 in 44 chance, you will hit an animal while living and driving in Montana. The most common months for this to happen are October, November, and December. If you are traveling through the surrounding states, your odds of hitting a deer don't really get any better. North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Idaho are all considered "high risk" or "medium risk" for the odds of hitting an animal.

Here are State Farm Insurance's 9 ways to help avoid hitting a deer.

20 License Plates Banned In Montana

This is just a small glimpse at banned license plates in the state of Montana. There are well over 4000 that could be added to this list.

Now why some of these are banned is beyond me. I don't find any of them offensive, that's for sure; the state of Montana has the right to refuse:

"any combination of letters or numbers, or both, that may carry connotations offensive to good taste and decency or which are misleading or a duplication of license plates provided elsewhere."- Montana Motor Vehicle Department

What plates are banned in your state? Hopefully, they are not as picky as Montana.
