Rouse to Close for 60 Days Starting Monday

Rouse Ave from Main St to Lamme will close on Monday, June 15, according to the Montana Dept of Transportation. This is part of the ongoing Rouse Ave - Main to Oak project, and it's expected to last through mid-August.

During this time, northbound and southbound traffic on Rouse Avenue will be detoured via Oak Street, 7th Avenue, and Main Street. Cyclists/pedestrians will also be detoured.

“We thank downtown organizations and residents for their patience as we work to make lasting improvements for Rouse Avenue,” said William Fogarty, Butte District Administrator for the Montana Department of Transportation. “The construction impacts for those between Main Street and Lamme Street will be intense for about two months and then will be substantially reduced.

The closure is necessary to replace storm drains and completely re-do Rouse from Main St. to Lamme St. Crews will also be installing a new traffic signal at Mendenhall Street as well as ADA ramps, curb and gutter, and sidewalks. They will be working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The complete project on Rouse is expected to be completed in late 2020. Once finished, Rouse will have a center turn lane and designated bike lanes and sidewalks from Main to Oak.
