It seems that everyone and their brother is moving to Montana.

We've seen parts of Montana grow at a rapid pace, and with that growth, home, utility, and food prices have also grown to the point where many Montanans feel like they're being priced out of their homes.

As popular cities like Billings, Bozeman, and Missoula continue to attract folks, we are also seeing towns like Kalispell take on some big growing pains as well. Or at least that's how it's perceived by locals.

According to data that has been compiled since 2020, here are the Top 5 Fastest Growing States in America:

  • South Carolina: Coming in 5th is South Carolina. Known for its charm and hospitality, the state has experienced a 7 percent growth rate over the last five years.
  • Utah: Utah has seen a huge boom over the last few years, especially in the tech industry. Coming in 4th, Utah has seen a growth of 7.1 percent since 2020.
  • Texas: The Lone Star State has a lot to offer, and it remains a popular destination for people to relocate. Ranked as the 3rd fastest-growing state, since 2020, Texas has seen a growth rate of 7.3 percent.
  • Florida: The Sunshine State is not only popular for those looking to vacation, but it's also a popular place to call home. With an impressive growth rate of 8.5 percent over the last 5 years, Florida is the 2nd fastest-growing state in the country.

So that leaves the number one spot. Did Montana claim the top spot? Is Big Sky Country the King of the Hill? Actually, no. In fact, what I'm sure will come as a surprise to many locals, Montana isn't in the Top 5 for the fastest-growing states in the country.
