Ah, Bozeman Montana, the most expensive city in Big Sky Country to call home.

For many Montanans, Bozeman isn't actually part of Montana (although it is). They see all of the change that's taken place and can't except the fact that the town is growing and there isn't really a way to stop it.

A town that once catered to Cowboys seems to now cater to the more upscale folks. A quick trip in downtown Bozeman certainly reminds some people of that fact. So, we get the cute and meant to be offensive nicknames like Boz Angeles.

However, for those who desire to call Bozeman home, the truth is, it's a city on the move. A drive around town will show you that all over the area construction is happening. While a lot of that construction is apartments, duplexes, and townhomes, there are still several single family homes available in Bozeman and the surrounding areas.

Before we get into the reasons buying a home in Bozeman makes sense, let's look at the best small towns in Montana.

4 Reasons to buy a Home in Bozeman

First, over the last several years the home prices have only increased. While we have seen a small dip in the average home price, those waiting for a big crash and home prices to plummet will most likely be waiting for years to come. My Real Estate friends tell me that now has never been a better time to buy a home in Bozeman.

Second, Bozeman is home to Montana State University.

If you didn't know, MSU is the premiere University in Montana and while some folks over in Missoula might try to argue the point, the facts speak for themselves. MSU has higher enrollment, a higher graduation rate, and a higher grade point average. Oh, and we also won a National Championship in Football recently. Real Estate in a College town usually increases in value.

Third, Bozeman is on the move.

While we are no longer the fastest growing city in America, we are still seeing people move here and establish themselves. Of course, part of the American Dream is home ownership and why not grab yourself a piece of property when you know the chances are it will only increase.

Fourth, Bozeman has lots of apartments and many of those those are very high priced.

Sure, some of the prices have gone down over the last couple of years, but that is because of supply and demand. More units means more choice, which goes in favor of the renter, however, do you want to spend tens of thousands of dollars each year in rent with nothing to show for it?

Of course, there is the fact that many residents of Bozeman can't afford a home.
