Montanans React To Attempt To Assassinate President Trump
The last time an attempt was made on a current or former President's life happened in March 1981 outside of a Washington DC Hotel with President Ronald Reagan.
While Montana is a long way from the National Capital, chances are that most Montanans alive back then were tuned in to the news to get updates on the President's condition. We've since learned that it was much more serious than we were told at the time, however, the President would bounce back and go on to serve two terms as one of the most beloved Presidents in American history.
Now, some 43 years later, another attempt to assassinate a President has happened and somehow it just feels different than it did all of those years ago.

Keep in mind that the world has changed drastically since 1981. We now have 24/7 News Channels, Social Media, the Internet, and countless other ways to receive information in real-time.
However, Saturday's assassination attempt on the 45th President of the United States in Pennsylvania almost came and went. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it's a much bigger deal than it was made out to be. Plus, never in my life have I witnessed as much hate and ill feelings toward others as I've seen over the last few years.
From crazy conspiracy theories to just downright horrific comments, it didn't take long for the ugliness of the keyboard warriors to appear online.
Montana is mostly Donald Trump country. He has won the state twice and by all accounts will win it a third time this fall. While some of the more liberal areas (Bozeman and Missoula) most of the state seems to be aboard the Trump Train and are certainly praying for the former President.
The former President certainly has his enemies. He is brash, outspoken, braggadocious, and doesn't hold back his feelings or thoughts. For many Montanans, that's a breath of fresh air from normal political speak, for others, it's rude, crude, and unprofessional.
Whether you love him or hate him, what can't be denied is the powerful image of the former President being surrounded by Secret Service Agents, his face covered in blood holding up a clenched fist yelling "Fight, Fight, Fight" with an American Flag in the background.
Of course, it didn't take long for doubters and critics of the former President to chime in soon after. From horrific comments suggesting the shooter should have had better aim to people suggesting it was all a setup by Trump himself, the country couldn't even come together for a few minutes before reigniting the turmoil and hate.
Is this just a President Trump thing? Or have we become so insensitive that we simply no longer care for our fellow human beings? Is there anything we can do to unite and come together? Or are we so far gone, that it's simply too late?
