If I'm honest, one of the greatest inventions of all time is spell check. The truth is, I'm not the world's greatest speller so there were no Spelling Bee Trophies at the Wolf house growing up.

It seems like I'm not the only one that has issues with spelling certain words.

I bring this up because the National Spelling Bee happened recently and the folks over at Google decided to research each state to see what word was the most difficult to spell for each state's residents.

The results were a little surprising because certain states seem to have trouble spelling some basic words like "pretty" (California), "secret" (North Dakota), and "picture" (Illinois). There were certainly more difficult words that states struggled with such as "aesthetic" (New York), "physique" (Texas), and "unconscious" (Missouri). So what about Montana?

Which word do Montana residents struggle with the most to spell?

According to Google, the word most difficult for Montanans to spell is..."privilege". Now, why we struggle with privilege isn't answered, but apparently, that's the one that gives us the most trouble.

Privilege certainly isn't the most difficult to spell, but it is a little more difficult than some of the words that made the list such as Grandma, strawberries, and quiet.

What is interesting about all of this is that Montana was just named one of the smartest states in America. According to data, Montana ranks 6th in the nation in terms of intelligence.
