Confession time, I'm a snacker.

I love snacks. I love cookies, crackers, jerky, chips, candy, you name it. In fact, one of my favorite things about going on a road trip is the...you guessed it, snacks. (by the way, I'm a big pistachio fan for road trips.)

For some Montanans, snacking is part of the meal plan. Folks who might be living a healthy life know that several small meals a day is often considered better for you, so a protein bar could be a snack, or maybe some trail mix. Something that fuels the body so it can do what you want it to do.

For others, snacking is just something to do because you're looking for something tasty.

I asked my officemate what her favorite snack was, and she said "pickles". See, not that I don't enjoy a pickle now and again, but I would have gone with something way more unhealthy, like gummy worms or Oreos.

How about the rest of Montana? When it comes to snacks, are we more on the healthy side, or do we have more of a sweet tooth? Before we reveal the answer, check out these classic old-school Montana food joints.

What Do Montanans Snack On The Most?

I'm guessing you might be guessing some sort of jerky, right? I mean, we love wild game here in Big Sky Country. So Elk Jerky or Def Jerky should be very popular, and they are, but that's not the top snack in Montana.

So, what is it? Some sort of candy? Chips? What?

According to Cheapism, the most popular snack in Montana is....Chex Mix. Yes, you read that right. Chex Mix. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Chex Mix, but is that really the most popular snack in the state? Apparently.

So, now the question becomes, homemade Chex Mix or the store-bought stuff? For me, it has to be homemade. There is just something about the homemade stuff that brings back great memories, mostly around Christmas.
