What’s Cooking This Fall In Montana?
With fall in the air, folks here in Montana are starting to drink everything Pumpkin Spice, not to mention they are digging out those hoodies and sweaters as they prepare for the brisk mornings.
I love the fall, it's my favorite time of the year, (other than Holiday Season). I love football, the changing colors, all of it.
Of course, one of the best things about fall, is all of the fall foods. Fall is a time folks bring out the crockpot and start making things like chili, soups, and other hearty meals. I was curious what "fall foods" people look forward to the most and the answers didn't disappoint.
What are Montanans cooking this fall?
One of the most popular answers was chili. Now, let's be honest, this can go several different ways. If you're from Texas, chances are you prefer your chili without beans. If you're from the upper Midwest, chances are you prefer your chili with cinnamon rolls. It seems that most folks do something "special" to their chili recipe.
Me, well I put a bit of peanut butter in mine. Try it. You'll thank me later.
Another popular choice is game meat. Lots of Montanans enjoy hunting during the fall, and there is nothing better then enjoying a delicious meal of wild game. Venison or Elk stews and chilis are fantastic and I'm getting hungry just typing this.

We mentioned the crockpot and for many Montanans, that's where it's at. It makes sense, you throw a bunch of stuff in before you leave for the day and when you come back, it's ready to go. Perfect! Oh, and if you're curious roast and chicken are popular items Montanans are cooking in the crockpot.
Finally, there is the pumpkin. I mean, fall is kind of the season for pumpkins, right? There are pumpkin flavored coffees, pumpkin cookies, muffins, cheesecakes, and pumpkin soup.
