One Of Montana’s Most Iconic Drive-Ins Is Back In Business
This is truly a happy day.
One of the toughest things is watching something you love go away. It could be a person, place, or thing. In this case, several years ago, one of Montana's most renowned places to eat shut its doors, and it seemed unlikely that it would reopen.
We all have those places we grew up with. Those joints that we went to as kids with our parents or grandparents. Places we would later visit with our friends. The type of place that, if you closed your eyes, you could remember how things looked, smelled, and tasted.

Montana is home to many classic places to eat. Mark's In N Out in Livingston, The Western in Bozeman, and the Montana Club in Missoula are just a few of the classic old joints across Big Sky Country.
Before we reveal which classic restaurant is reopening, let's take a look at some of the Best Old School Joints in Montana.

Iconic Montana Restaurant reopens after being closed for years.
One of the most famous places in Montana is located in Butte. No, I'm not talking about Pekin Noodle Parlor, which happens to be the oldest Chinese Restaurant in America; I'm talking about a place that invented its own burger.
I'm talking about Matt's Place.
The old drive-in is thought to be the oldest drive-in in the state. Matt's Place opened back in 1930 and served the people of Butte and Montana for decades. Home of the "Nut Burger" which is a burger that has a spread of Miracle Whip and crushed peanuts, locals go on and on about the food and the shakes.
Matt's has quite the history; not only is the building historic, but the restaurant itself won a James Beard Award back in 2016. Sadly, the restaurant closed its doors back in 2021.
Now, a couple from Washington has bought the old building and will be bringing back all the old favorites, while adding new items to the menu. According to KXLF, there is a bit of history attached to the establishment, as one of the new owners' grandmothers was a regular at Matt's.

So, for those of us who've driven by the last few years hoping that the famous Drive-In would open its doors one day, that day is here, and I can't wait to try it out.
