Bozeman is one of those towns that you either love or hate.

It's a fast growing town that caters to folks with money. Downtown has high-end shops with prices more than what an average resident would be willing to pay.

We have some impressive restaurants with cuisines from ultra-fancy to stick to your ribs good. Same way with our bars. You can pay top dollar for a drink while rubbing shoulders with elite, or you can sit at a bar and drink a beer from a can next to the dude that works on your car for fun.

While those behind the "rebranding" of Bozeman might have good intentions, it seems their vision for the future doesn't line up with others.

We've all heard of "The Old Bozeman" and for many, that was a much better place than "The New Bozeman". The Old Bozeman had character. It was a college town rooted in cowboys, cattle, the outdoors, and rodeo. All the things that made Montana great. The New Bozeman? Well it seems to be more about high rise condos, over-priced boots, and running in a circle with other fancy folks.

Which Bozeman is better?

I moved to Bozeman 5 years ago, and while I was new to Bozeman, I wasn't new to Montana. However, I am one of those nasty transplants some locals talk about.

In my defense, I prefer the old ways...BUT...I also understand that change happens and it's never easy to accept. Old vs New, local vs transplant, all of it seems to divide a community that in my opinion, could have the best of both worlds. Just because you love the old doesn't mean there can't be some new. Or, those who preview the new, need to understand and appreciate the old ways.
