Bears, Birds & Big Views: Coolest Live Cams in Montana
As Bill O’Reilly once famously said, “WE’LL DO IT LIVE!” (And if you don’t get that reference, do yourself a favor and watch the classic meltdown—pure internet gold.)
Speaking of live video, I recently got curious about the coolest live webcams in Montana. From nesting ospreys to ski hill cams showing off real-time snow depth, there’s something oddly entertaining about tuning in to these streams. Especially if you’re bored at home or just pretending to work on a Friday at your office, let’s take a look at some of the best live cams Big Sky Country has to offer.
This live webcam, named “Osprey Nest,” has an unexpected twist—a pair of Canadian geese have taken up residence instead. It looks like the ospreys haven’t arrived just yet. Ospreys migrate to Montana every spring, sticking around through summer and early fall—until they decide it’s just too cold. Their journey? All the way from southern South America!
Big Sky Resort is one of Montana’s top ski destinations, and they offer four live webcams to keep an eye on snow conditions—or just take in the stunning views. My favorite? The “24 Hour Total” and “Storm Total” cams, which feature live snowfall tracking with two measuring sticks, so you can see exactly how much fresh powder has fallen in real time.
Their are 8 webcams available in Yellowstone National Park for your virtual escape. There is a live stream of Old Faithful & the Upper Geyser Basin Livestream and seven static webcams throughout other parts of the park.
West Yellowstone Grizzlies & Wolves
Near Yellowstone’s west entrance, you’ll find the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, home to some of Montana’s most iconic wildlife, including grizzly bears and wolves. Unlike wild grizzlies, the bears here don’t fully hibernate, so you can still catch them moving around in winter—though their activity is about to pick up with the warmer weather. The wolves, on the other hand, have a spacious enclosure, meaning they’re not always visible, but with a little patience, you’ll still get the chance to spot them.

These are just a few of my favorite Montana wildlife webcams, but there are plenty more out there! A quick Google search will uncover even more live feeds—you might just find one that captures your interest even more!
