Well, this is a whole new meaning to the term "killer ride".

Montana has thousands of miles of highways and roads that are full of steep climbs, long descents, and curves, not to mention sometimes winter lasts 9 months here. So, when you hit the highway, you want to make sure that you're in a vehicle that you feel secure about.

For many, the vehicle they drive comes down to loyalty, and that has often been passed down from generation to generation. "Grandpa drove a Ford, Dad drove a Ford, so I'm going to drive a Ford as well."

While loyalty is an important factor, there are other things to consider. Performance, reliability, and safety are all key factors when getting reading to purchase a vehicle, and according to new research, when it comes to safety one popular brand doesn't receive high marks.

Glass Doctor compiled research from each state to determine which vehicle brands were the most safe and unsafe.  Now before we get to what they say is the most unsafe, let's highlight the vehicle brand they say is the safest.

Based on information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the safest vehicle in Montana is Infinity followed by Kia and then Mercedes Benz. This is a little odd because when you look at the national numbers, the second safest car in the nation is Subaru and I've never been anywhere where I've seen more Subaru's than Montana.

So which vehicle was deemed to be the most unsafe in Big Sky Country?

According to the data that was compiled between 2011 and 2020, that would be Dodge.  In fact, Dodge was not only determined to be the most unsafe vehicle in Montana, but it was also the most unsafe in the nation.

The good news? Motor Vehicle Companies continue to work on improving safety features and have made some pretty impressive strides in just the last few years, so keep that in mind when deciding to purchase a vehicle.
