Popular Montana Snack Company To Pause Production
We all over favorite snacks here in Montana.
For some, it's the delicious Flathead Cherry, others like anything Huckleberry, of course, some folks have a go-to favorite. Maybe its a bag of chips, or a candy bar. Then there are those who love the taste and toughness of a good ole piece of dried jerky.
Back when my wife and I were dating and talking about spending our lives together, she was a vegan (I've converted her over since then} she jokingly asked if if I could give up meat if we where going to be husband and wife, I was honest with her and told her no.

See, I not only love it for the health benefits like iron and protein, but I dig the flavor and the way it travels easy. Products like beef sticks and jerky can go anywhere, and often do here in Montana.
For many Montanans, we prefer local over some sort of out of state outfit. While there are several local folks making beef jerky, one of the big ones has paused production while it looks for answers on what to do in the future.
Popular Montana food company pauses production
Montanans are foamier with the name Hi-Country Snacks. The company has been making snacks for over 50 years and according to their website they have jerky, seasonings, and meals to enjoy while exploring the backcountry. However, according to multiple media outlets, the company has announced that it will pause production on jerky products while reaching out to shareholders to see which steps should be taken next.
According to those reports, layoffs that took place last summer where the first signs that there could be an issue with the company.
So, what does the future hold for Hi-Country? What's the solution to keep them in business? I did see one person suggest that Montana retailers should highlight Montana-made products more. Would that help? Would you be more likely to buy a Montana-made product?
