St Jude Radiothon Returns To Bozeman, Here’s How To Help Make A Difference

On Thursday and Friday, April 9th and 10th, we will be having our annual XL Country St Jude Country Cares for Kids Radiothon here in Bozeman.

For two days, we will be doing our very best to raise money for St Jude Children's Research Hospital. For those unaware, St Jude was founded back in 1962 and for decades, has been saving lives against childhood cancer.

Our connection was St Jude goes back a couple decades, and over the years, we've had multiple faces and personalities be a part of the radiothon, all with one goal, to raise as much money as possible. However, this year is a little different, because we've set a lofty goal of 200 thousand dollars. I know that's a lot of money, I do, but treating cancer is an expensive business.

If I might, let me share my story with you. In August of last year, I was diagnosed with cancer. Stage 4, Melanoma.

Since then, I've been thinking a lot about life. I'm a middle aged man and I've had some amazing experiences. I have been so many places, and met so many people over the years. Some famous, some not. I married the most wonderful woman and have had unforgettable adventures with her, and I have my dream job, the one I've wanted since I was 9.

See, I've had those times, so whatever happens to me, I'm fine with. But let's talk about the Kids of St Jude. They deserve to have the butterflies of a first date, the nerves that come with a job interview, the magic of a first kiss. All of it

How much is treatment at St Jude?

St Jude has an incredible track record, when they opened, the survival rate of one particular childhood cancer was 20 percent, today, it's over 80 percent. In fact, St Jude won't stop until no child does from cancer, that is a promise, and one they will keep. However, they need your help. Your donations make sure that the research, the care, all of it continues.

When a child goes to St Jude, the family never receives a bill, not one dime. All of that is taken care of through the generosity of donors like you and me. St Jude believes that when a child is fighting for their life, a family shouldn't have to worry about "how am I going to pay this?"

How can I help St Jude?

For years, many of our donations have come from long-time donors, and each year we get new donors. I ask all reading this would consider giving this year, for someone you know that is dealing with cancer, for someone you've lost from cancer, and for all those brave St Jude Kids who fight every day.
