Longtime Bozeman Favorite Audrey’s Pizza Oven in Closing
A longtime staple in Bozeman is preparing to say goodbye.
After more than 15 years under current ownership, and a legacy that stretches back decades, Audrey's Pizza Oven has announced it will permanently close its doors on May 30, 2026.
Widely considered Bozeman’s first true pizza restaurant, Audrey’s dates back to the 1960s, when it quickly became a go-to spot for families craving a simple, satisfying slice. For generations, it wasn’t just a place to eat; it was part of the community’s fabric.

Founder Audrey Anderson built the restaurant into a local institution before her passing in 1996 at the age of 88. Years later, the business found new life when Steve Schlegel purchased it in the late 2000s, reopening Audrey’s on North Rouse Avenue in 2010.
The restaurant evolved again in 2021, partnering with Freefall Brewery and relocating to North 7th Avenue, bringing together craft beer and a beloved local menu under one roof.
However, like many legacy businesses in a rapidly growing Bozeman, change has proven inevitable.
In a message to customers, the owners shared their gratitude:
Thank you for the support, memories, laughter, and friendships over the years. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who walked through our doors and made Audrey’s Pizza Oven a place we’re so proud of.
For many locals, Audrey’s wasn’t just about pizza; it was about tradition. It was the place families gathered after games, where regulars were known by name, and where the experience stayed consistent even as the city around it transformed.
The closure also marks the end of an era for its partner, as Freefall Brewery will shut down the same day.
If you’ve been meaning to stop in one last time, the window is closing fast. After May 30, another piece of Bozeman history will officially become a memory.
