These days I am always looking for a good deal. With prices up across the board, it feels harder to make a dollar go as far as it used to. That said, there are still places around Montana where you can grab a solid lunch without spending a ton. We asked folks across the state to share their favorite local spots, and they came through.
One place that stood out is Sophie’s Kitchen. It is built around family tradition, inspired by home cooked meals and a welcoming atmosphere. They serve breakfast and lunch, and it has that classic comfort food feel.
Over in Helena, Muni’s Sports Grill got a shout as a bit of a hidden gem. It is tucked near the golf course and offers a laid back spot to grab a bite. Butte showed up more than once on the list. Freeway Tavern is known for its famous pork chop sandwich, a crispy, flavorful staple that locals swear by. Not far behind is Pork Chop John’s, which has been serving its original recipe for over a 100 years.
Over in Belgrade, Chalet Market continues to be a go to for sandwiches and local meats. It has been around since the 1970s and still holds onto that small town feel.
And of course, Pickle Barrel made the list, with a long standing reputation for some of the best sandwiches in the Bozeman area.
