Why Gen Z Might Want To Move Away From Montana
It's hard to keep up with it all.
There are the Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. The only thing they have in common seems to be that they all think the others are out of touch, while their generation was the best.
As a proud member of Gen X, I would like to make the case that our generation had the best of both worlds. We played outside, rode our bikes all over town, and didn't need a screen to entertain us. However, we also had Mtv, Atari, and Nintendo.
Those were the days.

I bring this up because, according to some new data, for you younger folks out there, if you're looking to "make your way in the world" you might want to move away from Montana.
The TDM Agency released a list of "the best states for Gen Z to get rich" and Big Sky Country might not be your best bet. The rankings were based on the following statistics:
- Median Home Price
- Average Monthly Rent
- Median Household Income
- Average Housing Costs Per Month
- Unemployment Rates
While Montana is a beautiful place, it's certainly not the most affordable, especially when it comes to housing. However, for those of you Montana Gen Z'ers who are looking to make your fortune, but want to stay close to home, I've got some good news and some bad news.
The good news, the state that gives you the biggest opportunity to become rich is right next door. The bad news: it's North Dakota. Yes, the Peace Garden State was ranked first overall, followed by Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota, rounding out the Top 5.
Now, don't get me wrong. The folks of North Dakota are wonderful. I lived there for four years, and my wife and I met some lifelong friends. However, it's very cold, and there isn't a whole lot to do except hang out in your garage and drink. (That's an actual thing, and they all do it)
So, where does Montana land on the list?

We're ranked 23rd out of 50, which isn't horrible, and we are ranked ahead of popular states like Colorado, Arizona, Florida, and California. However, if making money is a big deal, there are states where that's easier to do.
