This is a bit alarming… If beef jerky is your go-to snack, you might want to check your stash. A major brand just issued a recall in Montana and 21 other states!

The recall of 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat beef and turkey sticks products was announced recently. The Shelley, Idaho-based company Chomps made the announcement after two customers discovered metal fragments in their snack.

FSIS initially listed the recall for just California and Illinois, but Costco’s notice included Montana and several other states. A bit strange, don’t you think? You can view that notice HERE.

Chomps has made a "Voluntary Internal Recall Information" page on their website and said...

"The issue was discovered after Chomps investigated two consumer complaints reporting the potential presence of metal fragments in the meat stick product. There have been no reported adverse reactions or injuries. This internal recall was initiated as a precautionary measure out of an abundance of caution. Our consumers are, and always will be, our number one priority." - Chomps

The beef and turkey sticks were packed out of one facility between January 16, 2025, through January 23, 2025. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service is also on the case, saying that no one has been injured yet from the recall but urges you to double-check your pantry for the recalled Chomps.

"FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers' pantries. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase." - FSIS
