Montanans Warned: Salmonella & Allergen Risk Triggers Food Recalls
Heads Up, Montana—Check Your Fridge and Pantry
If you’ve picked up cucumbers or canned soup lately, you’ll want to keep reading. There’s a pair of major food recalls happening right now, and some of it could be sitting in your kitchen.
Nationwide Cucumber Recall
Don’t feel like spending your weekend with Salmonella? Double-check any cucumbers you’ve got at home. This recall includes both whole and sliced cucumbers, with some sold at Walmart stores.
As of May 27, 26 people have gotten sick, and nine have ended up in the hospital. Salmonella symptoms can show up anywhere from a few hours to six days after eating something contaminated. We’re talking fever, stomach cramps, vomiting—the works.
According to the FDA, the cucumbers were grown by Bedner Growers, Inc., and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc. They were shipped to retailers, wholesalers, and food service companies between April 29 and May 19, 2025. If you bought cucumbers before that window, they should be past shelf life—but still, it’s not a bad idea to double-check.
Montana Soup Recall
Got a wheat allergy? Then you’ll want to check your pantry. There’s a recall on ready-to-eat chicken soups sold in 4-oz. plastic cups. The affected products are labeled “Signature SELECT Creamy Chicken & Wild Rice Soup with White Meat Chicken” and “Signature SELECT Chicken Corn Chowder with White Meat Chicken Smoke Flavor Added.”

The problem? They’re mislabeled and may contain wheat—something not listed on the label. These soups are sold at big-name stores like Albertsons and Safeway here in Montana. If you or someone in your home has a wheat allergy, this one’s worth a closer look. You can read the full recall details HERE.
