Not Your Average Day Out: Experience A Real Montana Cattle Branding
One of the time-honored traditions out here in cattle country are branding events. For generations, branding has been a key part of ranch life—marking cattle so folks know which herd belongs to which ranch.
Brandings are a big deal. They're a time when families come together, roll up their sleeves, work hard, share meals, and carry on a tradition that spands generations. In most cases, these gatherings are private—invite-only, usually reserved for ranching families or close friends.
But there's a rare opportunity coming up to witness one for yourself. The Grant-Kohrs Ranch in Deer Lodge, Montana—a historic site that celebrates the rich legacy of the American cattle industry—is hosting a public branding event. That means anyone and everyone is welcome to come out, see the process up close, and get a taste of this iconic Montana tradition.
The Grant-Kohrs Ranch was once the headquarters of a 10 million acre cattle empire and has now been turned into a historic sight for the public. You can read more about other daily events happening and the interesting history HERE.
