If you're a fan of college football, then you know the last few months have been kinda crazy.  All kinds of teams are leaving their old conferences and joining new ones, which kind of puts the whole landscape of the sport up in the air a little.

Here in Montana, you're either a Cat or a Griz fan and both teams are members of the Big Sky Conference, but is there a possibility that one or both teams could find a new home in the future?

Lots of folks are taking to social media and offering their opinions, and while there are no immediate plans, according to Montana Sports, both Athletic Directors at Montana and Montana State acknowledge that it could be a possibility at some point.

We've seen a major shake-up here in the West in the last couple of weeks with several teams in the Pac-12 leaving the legendary conference. In fact, only four of the 12 teams remain. UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Washington are all heading to the Big 10 while Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah are heading to the Big 12.

That only leaves Cal, Standford, Oregon State, and Washington State left.

There are several different scenarios being floated around by college football fans, and one of those includes teams from the Mountain West joining the Pac-12, which has led some to speculate that both Montana and Montana State could head to a bigger conference.

One of the popular theories (once again, there is no factual proof behind any of this) is that the Cats and Griz could possibly join the Mountain West along with a few other schools, including North Dakota State.

Currently, some of the bigger names in the Mountain West include Boise State, Colorado State, and Wyoming.  From a geographical standpoint, it would make sense for both Montana teams to join, however, that would also mean that both schools would have to step up to Division 1 and the competition would certainly increase.

What do you think?  As a Cat or Griz fan do you like the idea?  Do you think that both Montana schools are ready for a jump? There are certainly some benefits, more revenue, a bigger audience, and the possibility of landing more talent and more seating in the stadiums.

The Cats have been on a great run the last few years and have done a pretty good job of dominating the Big Sky, and the Griz are historically a strong team and always seem to be in the running. So should both schools at least consider making a move?
