Change Of Scenery: Is Brent Vigen Leaving Montana State?

It's the annual "Is he going to go or stay?" watch.

Of course, we're talking about the latest batch of rumors about Montana State's Head Football Coach, Brent Vigen. Vigen, who recently led the Cats to a victory in Missoula at the 124th Brawl of the Wild, has been the subject of many a football rumor over the last few years.

There was the Colorado job and the Washington State job, and now, according to some, rumors suggest that Oregon State has come calling.

 According to sources like Sports Illustrated, a long-term deal with Oregon State is in the works; however, let's be honest, journalism isn't what it used to be.

Of course, all of this has the Bobcat faithful on edge. Vigen has dominated since arriving at MSU and is the fastest Big Sky Conference Coach to 50 wins. Since his arrival, he has won three conference titles and appeared in the National Championship Game twice.

Not too shabby for a guy who has had the job for around 5 years.

Bozeman loves Vigen, and Vigen seems to love Bozeman. Two of his sons play for the Cats, and he and his family have settled in and become a part of the community. And while we hope the latest round of rumors is just that, the truth is, if he keeps winning, chances are the day will come when he will move on.

And who could blame him?

Think about it, let's say you're really good at something, and because of your skill level, you're paid for it. Let's say you're so good at your job that other companies are willing to pay you double, triple, or ten times more. Would you consider it?

Of course you would. Who wouldn't?

Coach Vigen is a hot commodity in the coaching world right now, and you know what they say. You have to strike while the iron is hot.

So, will he stay or will he go? Are the rumors true? Is Oregon State ready to back up the Brinks Truck? Should Montana State make a better offer if they do? I don't know the answer to any of those questions.

I do know that I love seeing him on the Bobcat sideline, and it would be a thrill to see him as our Head Coach for years to come, but that might be wishful thinking on my part.
