Bozeman’s Year In Review: Top 5 Biggest Things That Happened.

As the time ticks down on 2022, it's time to take a look back on what ended up being a pretty big year here in Bozeman.

It would be easy to discuss all the stuff that we usually talk about, high cost of living, transplants, etc.  That's not what this article is about, this is about the biggest and best things that happened in the last 12 months.

So, let's look at the five biggest things that happened this last year when it comes to Bozeman.

The Cats Play In The National Championship Game

For Bobcat fans, we all kicked off 2022 anticipating the Montana State/North Dakota State game for the National Championship Game in Frisco Texas on January 8th.  It would be the first time the Cats would play in the big game since 1984 and to say that Bozeman and the surrounding area were "Bobcat Crazy", would be an understatement.  In the end, it wouldn't be the Cat's day, but it was a preview of good things to come.

March Madness For Both The Men And Women's Basketball Teams

It was an amazing year for both the men and women on the court as both teams went on to win the Big Sky Conference Tournament and advanced to the Big Dance. This was the first appearance for the men since 1996 who took on Texas Tech, while the ladies took on number one seed Stanford.

No Shoes Nation Invades Bozeman

Folks had been waiting for 3 years to see Kenny Chesney at Bobcat Stadium due to the pandemic.  However, on July 9th, more than 24 thousand would come together for the biggest concert of the summer. It was the perfect night for a concert with clear skies overhead as hit after hit played through the night.

It would certainly be safe to say it was worth the wait.

ESPN College Gameday Comes To Bozeman

In an experience that most Montanans will never forget, ESPN College Gameday rolled into town and the people of Montana showed up.  Folks first heard the news on Sunday prior, however, they were out in full force when the Gameday Bus arrived in Bozeman and even greeted them with a parade downtown all the way to campus. In what turned out to be the coldest College Gameday in history, that certainly didn't stop thousands from showing up and getting loud.

The Great Divide Trophy Comes Back To Bozeman

Due to the pandemic, this was the first time the Brawl of the Wild was held in Bozeman since 2019.  Of course, last year the Griz were the victors in Missoula and ended up taking the trophy back for the first time since 2015, however, the Griz and their top-ranked defense were certainly not ready for what would happen on November 19th at Bobcat Stadium. While both teams would score on their first possession, it didn't take long to see that the Cats were the superior team that day.

MSU would cruise to a 55 to 21 victory reclaiming the Great Divide Trophy.

So there you have it.  The Top 5 Biggest Things to happen in Bozeman in 2022, what does 2023 have in store? I'm not sure, but if you're anything like me, you sure are looking forward to finding out.
