Annual Bozeman Blood Drive Returns For It’s 13th Year.
One of the great things about living in Bozeman is the sense of community.
Folks here care about each other and are always willing to come together to help out a fellow Bozemanite. Whether donating to a food drive, donating to their favorite cause, or rolling up their sleeve and literally giving some of themselves to a local blood drive.
Speaking of giving the gift of life, one of the biggest blood drives in the area is happening and they could use all the help they can get.
More than a decade ago a Bozeman boy was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, the little boy named Caden would need aggressive treatment which would require 35 blood transfusions. Caden and his story inspired what has become the biggest one-day blood drive in Bozeman.
The annual event always takes place right around Caden's birthday and for many locals, it's just something they do each year.
And for those wondering, Caden will be on hand and is preparing for a big hike this fall to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. Caden is getting ready to enter his sophomore year at Bozeman High where he is part of the drumline for the Marching Band.
While blood donors are needed all year, the summer months can be a little more difficult. The Get Poked For Caden Blood Drive is crucial for the local area and because Caden is turning 16 this year, every 16th donor will receive a prize and there will also be special refreshments as well.
The drive happens this Thursday from 9 am until 3:30 pm at the Bozeman Public Safety Center. We hope to see everyone there!
