Today, February 22, 2018, several students reported to Belgrade High School Administrators that they had heard rumors about a child possibly bringing a gun to the school.
Belgrade High School staff promptly reported this information to the Belgrade Police Department. The Belgrade Police Department and School Administration are taking proactive and precautionary measures, given the recent events in Florida. Several uniformed officers are stationed at the school and will remain there while detectives are investigating this matter.
Classes are on-going however, students will be sheltering in place within their locked classrooms until this investigation is concluded. There is no threat at this time, no reports of violence, and detectives are currently present with and speaking to all parties involved.
Belgrade Police Administration is requesting parents do not respond to the school to collect your children without making prior arrangements as the building is locked and you will not be able to gain entry. Anyone with questions or information can contact either the Belgrade Police Department at 388-4262, or the Belgrade High School Administration at 388-6862.
