Have you ever thought about your favorite state? I know mine, I live here, Montana. Don’t come after me. I’m not trying to sell Montana or convince people to move here. That ship has already sailed, and the U-Hauls already came and went. I’m just here to talk facts.

Montana has everything you could possibly want in a state: jaw-dropping beauty, endless recreation, friendly people, and a pace of life that still feels grounded. From Glacier to Yellowstone, the trails, lakes, and small towns all bring something special to the table. If you've been here, you know it. If you haven't, well... lucky you if you ever get the chance.
But is Montana America’s favorite state?
According to a new YouGov survey, the top spot for 2025 actually goes to Hawaii. More than 2,000 people were surveyed and asked about favorable and unfavorable states.
Montana still ranks strong, though. We’re typically near the top of any “most loved” list. And let’s be honest: even if we didn’t get first place, a little less attention might not be the worst thing.
