Winter Storm Watch for Beartooth Pass and Red Lodge Area Through Tuesday – 18″ Possible, Gusty Winds
Montana's warm Fall weather will be turning with several Watches and Advisories becoming active. Red Lodge and the Beartooth Pass will be under a Winter Storm Watch until Tuesday evening for snow and gusty winds.
According to the National Weather Service:
- THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BILLINGS HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH 6PM TUESDAY.
- IMPACTS... HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL MAKE OUTDOOR RECREATION DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE IN THE HIGH COUNTRY.
- BEARTOOTH PASS WILL BE IMPACTED BY ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL.
- TIMING... MONDAY AND TUESDAY.
- SNOW ACCUMULATION... 12 TO 18 INCHES POSSIBLE... GREATEST ABOVE 8000 FEET.
- WINDS... WEST TO NORTHWEST GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING SNOW OVER THE HIGH PEAKS.
- A WINTER STORM WATCH IS ISSUED WHEN SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT. AT THIS TIME THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW.
