What Are The Top Winter Destinations For Montanans?
Some folks don't like the cold.
The great state of Montana is known for its long winters, sometimes lasting half of the year, and while folks have become accustomed to that, it's nice to have a little break and spend some time in a warmer climate.
Now, Montana has its fair share of snowbirds. You know, the folks that leave around October or November and come back in April or May, but let's be honest, most of us can't afford that. I mean, housing isn't cheap in Big Sky Country, so if you can afford a home here, chances are you can't afford a second home somewhere else.

That leaves the option of a "winter vacation".
For many Montanans, Christmas Break and even Spring Break are times to get away and go where there is a little less snow and a little more heat. Maybe it's a place known for its beaches, or maybe there is some giant amusement park in a warmer climate, wherever it is, you can bet it's not some place freezing.
Where are Montanans vacationing in the winter?
While many tourists come to Montana to ski during the winter, many Montanans go somewhere where there's less skiing and more umbrella drinks. When you factor in the cost of airfare, hotel, and all of the other expenses, a winter vacation can add up.
However, if you're on a budget, as many of us are, there's always Las Vegas. Vegas is one of the most popular winter destinations for Montanans due to the cheap airfare. You can catch a direct flight for next to nothing, and there are always deals in Sin City. There is plenty to do and see, and there's even a ton of things for families, which is appealing to many.
Other popular winter getaways are places like Florida and Mexico. Florida is great for families because of places like Disney World and Universal Studios (although tickets are NOT cheap), and Mexico has many resorts that allow adults to have a drink or four while lounging by the pool.
Finally, there is always a cruise. During the winter, cruises are a big deal and allow folks to see and do multiple places and activities. Plus, the nice thing about a cruise is that the food is provided, and there are multiple options. For those bargain hunters, there are always deals, and often you can have a 3 or 4-day cruise for a great price.
