
Tragic Train Collision Claims Two Lives In Northwest Montana
A tragic accident occurred in northwest Montana yesterday, and the news has left many in the region heartbroken. According to information released by local authorities, two people lost their lives after a vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train west of Browning.
The Glacier County Dispatch Center received the initial call for assistance around 1 p.m. following the collision, which happened near Spotted Robe Trail. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, including deputies from the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office, Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services, Browning Fire and EMS, the Montana Highway Patrol, and BNSF Railway Police. Federal authorities were also notified, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now assisting with the investigation.
Both people in the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials later identified the driver as 43 year old Joseph Fisher. The passenger was identified as 7 year old Grayson Running Crane. The loss of life, especially involving a child, has deeply impacted the local community and surrounding areas.
At this time, investigators have not released additional details about what led up to the collision. This multi agency effort is focused on determining exactly what happened and ensuring all facts are carefully reviewed.
Incidents involving trains are rare but often severe, serving as a reminder of how important safety is around railroad crossings, especially in rural areas where visibility and road conditions can vary.
