Change in State Reporting of COVID-19 Cases Skews Today’s Numbers
At first glance, the numbers for new COVID-19 cases in Gallatin County were something to be excited about. The Gallatin County City-County Health Department reported today that we only had one new case of the coronavirus in the past 24-hours. However, it turns out that the State of Montana has changed their reporting methods, so today's local and state totals really reflect where the numbers where at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Beginning today (Tuesday), the state changed their COVID-19 case reporting to only once per day. They will now report new numbers only once per day, between 9-10 a.m. Previously, they were giving updates in the morning and in the afternoon. That's why today's totals looked very much like yesterday's.
