For many Montanans, summer means good times and road trips.

Of course, to have a proper road trip, you need a few essentials before sitting out on your journey. First, you need a vehicle with a full tank of gas. Second, you need snacks, and third, you need some killer tunes.

So whether you're heading to Flathead Lake, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, or some other fantastic Montana location, we thought we would take a look at some of the best "Montana songs" for your drive.

Several songs have been written about The Treasure State, so when it comes to compiling a list, it can be a little difficult. Plus, we all have our preferences when it comes to music. Some of us are a little bit country, while others are a little rock-n-roll.

First, is the country classic "Meet Me In Montana" by Dan Seals and Marie Osmond. A tale of two lovers who would rather leave the big city and enjoy the simple life that Montana has to offer. It's no doubt a popular choice for any Montana music playlist.

The next couple of songs deal with Montana towns. I mean, it's one thing to sing about the state, but when you write a song based around an actual Montana town, well that's something. First, is The Missoula Song by Jewel.

The world lost a music legend with Jimmy Buffest passed away. Buffet was known for his love of the ocean and sailing, however, Buffet also had a love for Montana and the town of Livingston as shown in his song "Livingston Saturday Night".
