In what has become the number one trending story on social media, Greg Gianforte has been charged with misdemeanor assault on the eve of Montana's special Congressional election.

He allegedly body slammed a reporter.  His campaign released a statement regarding the incident that did not match up with audio from the incident or eyewitness accounts. Sheriff Brian Gootkin will hold a press conference today at the Gallatin County Detention Center in Bozeman. The time will be announced later.
