Montana has been a popular destination for filmmakers recently, and there's a new movie starring some very well-known actors that is currently filming near the Missouri Breaks area.

According to a Facebook post from the Fort Benton Police Department on Saturday, scenes from 'The Ploughmen' directed by Ed Harris are currently being filmed in the Fort Benton area.

The film stars Robert Duvall and Garret Hedlund and is based on a novel written by Kim Zupan in 2014, telling the story of a sheriff's deputy in central Montana.  According to an article by Deadline, filming for 'The Ploughmen' will take place in Montana and New Mexico.

Here's a description of 'The Ploughmen' from the Deadline article.

The Ploughmen is the story of the strange friendship that develops between a haunted young deputy sheriff and a notorious old murderer that turns both their worlds upside down. The men sit across from each other in the dark, talking through the bars of a county jail cell. John Gload is a killer so adept at his job that only now has he been apprehended. Valentine Millimaki is a low man in the Copper County sheriff’s department, who works the overnight shift that puts him in proximity with the killer. The young sheriff finds much in common with his prisoner and dangerously seeks counsel from him.

The film is currently in production and an official release date for 'The Ploughmen' has not been announced. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
