R.I.P. Gallatin Valley Mall: Demo For ‘Gallatin Crossing’ Underway [PHOTOS]

The major renovation and construction on the Gallatin Valley Mall in Bozeman has begun. If fact, a large chunk of the Mall isn't even there anymore.

NOTE: The Gallatin Valley Mall IS OPEN during this redevelopment and there is still plenty of parking available. Don't hesitate to continue shopping at your favorite retailers while this big project is underway. It is not difficult getting around the construction.

Big changes in not only aesthetics but function to the entire Mall are underway. The section of building just west of Barnes & Noble is completely gone, having already been demolished. $50 million is the estimated cost of this redevelopment and it's quite exciting.

(If you miss the days of the old red carpet and the taxidermy Polar Bear inside the old Bozeman's Main Mall, THESE CHANGES are going to blow your mind.)

The plans for the Mall are to create a completely new shopping experience, with not only retailers but 'modern medical services'. This transformation is just one major piece of a multi-step plan for Bozeman's new Gallatin Crossing...the Whole Foods Market being the first major addition that residents can now see. This will be the first Whole Foods Market in the entire state of Montana, BTW.

Medical services at the mall? Yes, that's the plan. According to the Gallatin Valley Mall's website: "This redevelopment is a total transformation from Bozeman’s storied and traditional shopping mall to a modern, mixed-use center that houses high-end retail, entertainment, medical and grocery offerings."

What will end up being a "Medical Pavillion", is going to be a large addition to the Mall property at 45,000 square feet. The plans say that is will house "two of the region’s most established healthcare entities, SCL Health, now Intermountain Healthcare, and Ortho Montana PSC".

2023 is going to be a very big year for the Mall, as it goes through this major transformation and upgrade. It seems that no piece of the current property will be untouched, since the new Gallatin Crossing will also include "mall façade upgrades, parking, landscaping, wayfinding signage and lighting - all planned to begin construction in Spring 2023."
