Several sporting events have been postponed or cancelled due to the spread of the omicron variant across the country. Reports of positive cases have been on the rise, and many events have been cancelled as a result.

Many major sports including football, basketball, and hockey have been postponed games because of COVID-19 concerns.

On Tuesday, January 4, Montana State University announced that the Montana State women's basketball games scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 6 against Idaho, and Sunday, Jan. 9 against Montana in Worthington Arena have been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Bobcat program.

There's no word on whether the games will be rescheduled for later in the season.

All tickets purchased for the home games will be valid for the rescheduled date, once finalized. Ticket purchasers with questions can contact the MSU Athletics Ticket office at 406-994-CATS.

The next scheduled game for the Montana State Women's Basketball team is Saturday, Jan. 15. The Bobcats will face Southern Utah on the road.

With the current rise in COVID cases across the country, many Bobcat fans are wondering if the FCS National Championship in Frisco, Texas could get postponed.

As of right now, the game is still scheduled for Saturday, January 8 with a 10:00 a.m. kickoff. On Monday, the NCAA released a contingency plan if the game is impacted by COVID. Click here for more information.
