Montana State Graduates, Here’s 5 Life Tips To Take With You As You Go.
So, the big day has come. After years of hard work, you're now a college graduate and ready to hit the ground running.
First, let me congratulate you on your achievement. This is a big deal and, at this point, probably the most important thing most of you have accomplished. Montana State University is a top-notch school, and I have no doubt that each of you will do great things with the education and lessons you've learned while attending MSU.
If I might, I would like to take a moment and point out a few things that I think will help you achieve even greater things in life. Now, you might be thinking, "Who's this guy and why is he giving advice?"
That's a fair question.

I'm just a guy who learned a lot of things the hard way, and wish I had known what I'm about to share with you years before I learned it. I've come up with a few pieces of advice that, if followed, will make life better and, in some instances, a little easier.
Be on time
In life, it's important to show up, and part of showing up is being on time. People judge you all the time, and one of the things they judge you on is how you treat them and the tasks that you've been given. When you show up late, it's hard to take you or your commitment to the projects you've been given seriously.
Don't be afraid to work hard
When it comes to getting to the down and dirty, don't be afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the tough stuff. It will go a long way in winning the trust and respect of those around you. Whether in a job or a relationship, a little hard work never hurt anyone.
Don't be afraid to embrace humility
Being humble never goes out of style. You very well might be the best at what you do; however, knowing that should be enough. You certainly don't need to announce it. Remember, no one likes a bragger.
Don't be afraid to fail
I realize that for many of you, you've never failed. Failure is a key to becoming successful. I can't tell you how many times I've failed in life, but what I can tell you is that before every great achievement I've accomplished in my life, I failed first. There is no shame in failure; in fact, it's a character builder.
Share your achievements with others
When given the opportunity, always praise those around you. Win employee of the month? Thank you're co-workers. Win a major award? Thank those who made it possible. When those around you feel appreciated, they will go out of their way to help you, which makes you look better.
Finally, remember where you come from
For some of you, you will travel the world and do things that only most of us can dream about. For others, you will get a job, buy a home, and live a quiet life. Whatever you do or wherever life takes you, never forget where you come from or the sacrifices folks made to help you get where you are. There are those in your life who've worked hard for you, prayed for you, cried for you, and given up things they would like to do in life, so that they could give you the chances you have.
Never forget that.

Once again, congratulations on this huge achievement. I wish you the very best and look forward to all that you will do.
