For the last few years, a lot of locals have hoped that folks would stop moving to Montana and move somewhere else. Well, it looks like they may have gotten their wish.

The "Montana Migration" started a long time ago, but really picked up steam during the pandemic. The world was shut down, and a large population of people were working from home, so why not move to someplace pretty? Hey! I hear Montana is nice!

Well, according to many locals, it was all downhill after that.

Well, good news, maybe the end came sooner than we thought.

According to some statistics, the Top 5 States People Are Moving to has just been released, and Montana is nowhere on the list. You read that right, no Last Best Place. In fact, it seems that the Northwest, which was a major hotspot for a while, is starting to cool down, according to the states that made the Top 5.

With states such as Tennessee and North Carolina making the list, and a Northwest state also breaking into the Top 5?

That would be Idaho, which came in 2nd on the list. So, what is so great about Idaho? While maybe not as scenic as Montana, there is much to see and do, and some would say the roads are better. Plus, the housing is cheaper. Boise has become a major hub and has everything you could ever want, plus, there is still plenty of rural land available for hunting, fishing, and hiking.

Oh, and in case you are curious as to which state is number one on the list, that would be Arkansas.
